NYC publishes an annual water quality report (Consumer Confidence Report) that details the quality of the city water supply. NYC water consistently meets or exceeds all federal and state water quality standards. The water comes from protected watersheds in the Catskill Mountains and is among the highest quality municipal water in the nation. However, water quality can be affected by the condition of your water service line and internal plumbing. Properties with lead or galvanized steel service lines may experience elevated lead levels. Regular testing and service line replacement are recommended for older properties.
